The dreaded pop-up ad. No one asks for them, no one enjoys them, and yet we continue to see them everywhere we browse — even on our mobile devices. Worse yet, pop-up ads on Android have a tendency to take over your entire screen, slow your page load speed, and have an almost impossible to find "exit" option. So not only are they annoying, they're also incredibly disruptive (even more so when you're using limited data to browse).

Luckily, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out how to stop pop-up ads on Android. We're here with a handy guide to show you how to block pop up ads on Android phones for good — in Firefox, Samsung Internet, or Chrome. Say hello to a mobile internet without ads!

How to Stop Pop-Up Ads on Android in Firefox

To block pop-ups (and other annoying ads) when using Firefox on Android, your bet is to use AdBlock. Start by simply visiting our homepage (www.getadblock.com) using the Firefox browser on your Android device, and tapping Get AdBlock Now. Install AdBlock and voila, you're officially stopping ads on your Android device! You can also get AdBlock from the Mozilla store (using the Firefox browser on your Android device as well). If you're on the Mozilla store, make sure you're downloading the right one: AdBlock for Firefox by AdBlock.

The AdBlock pop-up blocker for Android starts working right away from the moment you install it (please note, you'll only see AdBlock for Firefox in your Firefox Add-ons list). It couldn't be easier! Those obnoxious pop-ups won't know what hit 'em, and you can browse in peace, wherever you are.

How to Block Pop-Ups on Android in Samsung Internet

In order to stop pop-ups on the Samsung Internet browser, navigate to either the Galaxy Apps Store or Google Play Store using your Android device. Search for "AdBlock for Samsung Internet," and make sure you're downloading the right one: AdBlock for Samsung Internet by BetaFish. (Please note that you must be using Samsung Internet browser 4.0 or above in order to download AdBlock.)

Just like with our Firefox mobile version, once the AdBlock extension is installed, it starts working right away (unlike our Firefox mobile version, you'll see AdBlock for Samsung Internet listed right in your apps). Stop pop-ups and start browsing without distractions. We promise you won't miss them!

How to Block Pop-Up Ads on Android in Chrome

Chrome is the default browser on most Android phones, and it includes an option to block pop-ups within your browser settings. To activate this setting, follow these steps:

  1. Open Chrome on your Android device
  2. To the right of the address bar, tap More, then tap Settings
  3. Tap Site settings, then select Pop-ups and redirects
  4. Switch Pop-ups and redirects to Block (You should then see "Block sites from showing pop-ups and redirects (recommended)" under Pop-ups and redirects)

Activating this setting in Chrome stops most pop-up ads on Android, but some ads and aggressive pop-ups can still get through. For a more robust pop-up blocking option, you might consider trying an Android browser that allows extensions, such as Firefox or Samsung Internet.
